New job. new life.

Haven't updated for a long time... Had a lot of things to do...

Started new work like 2 weeks ago... So far so good... but i know stress will be coming up. esp when boss is coming back next week. Office's been rather quiet without all the big bosses ard. But i guess this is really the last honeymoon period. Today Mr Quek asked if i like my new job. honestly. i didn't have an ans for him. Perhaps i haven't really feel the job yet. i dunno but it just feels weird working ard ppl whom i've known for quite some time. it could be an awkward feeling... Sometimes it's just better to start afresh.

Colleagues... can't say much abt them... Firstly. i do not know all of them yet. and well. they didn't even bother to know who am i. even just ppl ard me. Ha. But i felt quite happy today to have some colleagues from other dept talking to me.. and not really abt work. There are actually very nice ppl ard and some not-so-nice ppl ard. haha.

For my dept... i think my other 2 colleagues are also very very busy with all the upcoming concerts... that the first few days i was totally neglected and was left to do things on my own. Honestly... i have no idea what i was supposed to do... The gradually i got more things done.. and done properly. Today is like one of the most busy day i had since joining.

And i think it's too much for me to handle such a big project. one of the biggest. I was asked to do Season Booklet! Like.. what? And i have to start from scratch... cos there's isn't a protocol to follow. i have to see from the past what they did. and boss says that whatever the work schedule was like in the past was not sufficient. she wants details... one of my colleague has experience doing season booklet for once... and it was too slow. they want to push forward. And omg. it's really a nightmare. I can't believe that i am trusted with this task. But that's probably becos there are no other ppl in the dept already. But i'm also quite interested to know what could i come out with at the end of the day. it's really a test of my ability. A strong learning opportunity for me.

No, i dun think i'm planning to stay long in this company. Maybe unless i could try other dept. something i like to do... but i dun think so. It is not my dream to work here forever. i want to venture into other aspect of arts... not just CO. So ya.

I dunno when i will be looking for a new job... since this one is only temp. And i dun think they will convert me to perm. or at least not yet... and hopefully i already didn't screw up the season booklet. But i want to thank my friends and other colleagues/teachers who are giving me encouragement. :)

I ♥ Taiwan - Part 2

Shall continue with my Taiwan Trip post. HAHA. This is like so outdated already but whatever. still wanna blog abt it. :)

Day 4
Again.... 4 of us headed out first... 国父纪念馆 was our first stop. It's free to enter so we just head there ard 10am. Very big place... and we just missed their changing shift timing when we got there. But guards there are luckier... they are standing indoor instead. at least they are spared from direct sun.

Looked ard the museum inside... and took a few pictures with his statue. And collect some chops too. haha! like keep collecting chops.. later still got. =P

Then walked to Taipei 101. It's really like damn high class. Filled with branded goods only. Walked ard for a while... went to find the Page-one bookstore. Very big! but didn't get what dad wanted cos turned out to be not what we expected. So anyway we bought some keychains as gifts from there. nice but a bit more ex. haha!

Took their shuttle bus to the City Hall station to wait for the other 2. Very cold day. and i was wearing sleeveless top. wah. i nearly freeze in the wind. Finally they reached and we proceed to lunch! :) At Mr. J Restaurant. One of the meals we spent more money. But ok ba... I think we enjoyed ourselves taking photos here and there. I'm not a big fan of Mr. J.. so i already didn't take a lot. haha. Food is not bad and not very expensive for most of the dishes. If u are fan of Mr. J, go crazy over his posters, the ancient piano in The Secret and his merchandise. They say sometimes he does go there.

After that we went to 五分埔. It's really big. But becos it's really big, we got a bit confused after too many turns. And i was already very alert and direction wise. I think qin they all just lost their way and anyhow walk until they got to the meeting place lor. haha! Anyway selling mostly clothes.. but not all are cheap as well. Da-jie and i bought quite a few pieces of clothing.. must grab those sale item... sometimes will get very good bargain. :) And depending on the owner also lor. Some like super black face, so rude. I think we like shopped there for at least 2hours and still didn't cover the whole place lor.

So anyway next we proceeded to 饶河夜市. Shopped again! And find food to eat also lah... tried some different food and had 芒果冰 again! :) Nice nice nice. haha. and i forgot what else we ate le... Shopped till quite late cos we came across this wired gifts pushcart and all of them want to buy... so we waited there for the keychains to be done. (Ya.. that's the 饶河帅哥. haha!) By the time they are all done.. most of the other stalls closed liao.. and it was like past 1am. haha! So we took a photo with him before we left. He so nice lah... still help us call cab and ask the uncle give us 20% discount on cab fare. Good right!

Ya.. and that's the end of Day 4. We all decided to go out a bit later the next day.. since shops at 西门町 don't open so early anyway. :)

Day 5
Still... we went out first... To have our breakfast at 西門町. Breakfast at the Swing Cafe. Cool concept. Only thing each person has a minimum spending to fulfill. We shared this super BIG red tea. Like WOW! After that, we actually shopped at 西門町 for the whole day!! Bought a lot of things wor. Even though things are more expensive than the night markets, we still bought a lot. haha!

Lunch at the Toilet Restaurant. Wah! A bit hard to find, we have to ask a few ppl before we get to the right place. Concept was cool. Food was quite good actually and not really expensive. Only the dessert was so-so. A lot of Singaporeans go there, could see notes left behind by fellow Singaporeans in the bathtub (table). Took quite a lot of photos there too. (actually the only place at 西門町 which we took photos mainly). haha!

Then was shopping the whole day!!! Bought like a lot of things again. Necklaces as gifts and some for myself as well. The only cheaper things there actually.

When we finally decided to return to our hotel to put down all our things, it was already like late evening. We saw a 黑輪 stall and decided to buy some to try cos we have nv had it before! The stall owner is really nice too! We asked for recommendations and she said everything nice. -.- But in the end she got us the more popular ones. And even separated the soup from the food so that we can bring back to hotel to eat. :) And it turned out to be really nice food even though it's really like 路邊攤! Surprise surprise. haha.

Then we were still not so tired yet, so we went to 五分埔 again. Wanted to go 饒河夜市 again but there wasn't enough time. So we only shopped the first. Eventually everyone still got something from there even though we have been there already. haha!

Then returned to hotel to rest already!

Day 6
It's a day out again. One day tour to some further places.

野柳公園 was the first stop. Actually there wasn't really much inside. hahaha! lotsa sand and weathered stones/land ard. But the famous 女王頭 is still worth cos it's still under weathering conditions and it might be gone soon. the 'neck' of the figure is getting thinner and thinner. They are thinking that we visit next year, it wouldn't be there any more. Wow! Power of nature.

Then we were brought to 平溪 to 放天燈. Shared 2 天燈s, wrote our wishes according to the category and release it to the sky one by one. Like COOL! (To think of it now, the wishes on work didn't really come true within the year - edited on 1 Jan 2010). It was a fun process. We ran into another group of Singaporeans there as well. And a couple actually wanted to take photo with us and our 天燈! haha. Coincidentally, we came across the real steam train head there. The ppl there told us that the train head only operate twice per year! We are really lucky. So there were A LOT of photographers there, waiting for the train to come by. It's really quite an exciting moment. Really cool. :)

Too bad they have closed 十分瀑布 cos of some court case on the ownership of the waterfall. I would really like to see it!

So we proceeded to 九份老街. I like the place. Though it rained halfway, the whole walk-through was good! We had the famous fishball soup for lunch. Cheap and good! Shopped all the way to the top. The rain caused the mountain area to fog after the rain. So cooling. :) Again. Bought some things here and there. Mostly food. 花生酥 was really good! First recommendation if u are going there! Another good food is 賴阿婆芋圓. Even i dun really like 紅豆湯. The whole dessert is just great!

Our walk took so long that we missed the opening hours of 金瓜石. But our guide didn't tell us as well. So anyway he brought us ard the mountain area to take pictures. Nice scenery really. The sky, sea and greens. I love. :)

Then to 基隆夜市. We didn't stay there for long cos mostly were seafood and we didn't want to eat. We only got some stuff from there and decided that we should return to 士林夜市 on our last night. Haha. So the guide drove us back and dropped us at 士林. Time to eat and shop again! Last min shopping!

Cabbed back to hotel. Not very late cos need to pack bag anyway. Xuyin and Yuyan only slept for a while cos they had to leave so early for their flight.

Day 7
Our last half day there! Actually didn't do much. Can't rmb what we had in the morning, i think it was some bread. haha! Then shopped at the 台北站 cos that's where we stayed and the nearest of all. And there's actually quite a bit to shop at the underground street. Bought more shoes. lol! And nothing much lah cos our luggage also full liao lor. lol!

Had our last 青蛙下蛋 before we return to hotel to checkout and go to the airport. Turned out we were quite early... And i got another 2 gifts for my girls. Haha! Somemore i no money liao have to borrow from da-jie. LOL! =x

Touched down ard midnight and er-jie came to fetch us. Qin so drama lah, her family didn't know she coming back sia... So i accompany her and help her carry her stuff up to her house since her brother didn't response and didn't come down. Turned out they all went to sleep liao! LOL! her brother still say he thought qin coming back the next day. haha! Damn funny. But luckily we sent her home if not i think she cham. Haha!

I ♥ Taiwan - Part 1

After having all the hard time planning and praying.. we finally embark on this exciting 7days6nights trip to Taipei from 16may to 22 may! :)

Day 1
Nothing much cos most of the day already spent on the plane and the car to our hotel... by the time we got to the hotel... it's already abt 5pm! So we rest for a while and decide our first stop.. it was 华西街夜市... cos it was near to our hotel.. but it turned to be there isn't much... It is more known for its speciality soups.. Snake and whatever u can find!! So we took a walk.. had some dessert (we haven't had dinner. haha) and we went off to somewhere else..

We stopped outside 龙山寺 to take some pictures... their temple very high tech one lor... outside got electronic belt of words running across the the main gate! and apparently after the whole trip.. we know that it was not the only one... and yet there are none like that in sg lor... hahaha! we like damn sua ku. lol. Then bought some bread from 85C cafe...
The very high tech temple with words scrolling across the main gate..

Then we decided to go to 士林夜市! Yeah! :))) First thing we got there... 鸡排!!! haha! Really a lot of ppl queuing up for it lor. But it really fast too... and dun need to worry cannot get it. sure can one. haha. then went to eat 棺材板. interesting concept. haha. it's actually just bread. fried can cut the top out... put in some ingredients and cover back. (like coffin). so ya.. i think that's how it got its name. and tried 芦荟柠檬 too.. nice and cooling.

After that... we went to shopping street... walk walk walk.... and we managed to catch the last train back to our hotel lor. haha! Didn't really buy much for the first day. But i already got myself a bag then.. Hee.

Went back to hotel.. bathe and slept. Tired liao.

Day 2
Qin's 2 other friends didn't want to wake up early.. so the 4 of us set out on our own first. :)

Went to 忠烈祠. it's a place to commemorate the soldiers who died in the wars and such. And the main attraction there was the guards changing shift 'ceremony'. It's very cool. They marched to to the center.. and 'played' with their rifle. now i understand why there's always ppl performing this kinda thing on taiwan tv. so they do have a job that requires them to do so. Anyways. Ya. cool. But then when they are in position already. Very kelian. Cannot move at all for 1h. and the gun position is like also have to be still... under the hot sun for some of them! so we actually saw their ppl helping the guard to wipe sweat and sprinkle water on their faces.

忠烈祠 almost time for the shift change... ppl are gathering ard to watch... a lot of procedure before the shift is completely taken over.

So after that.. we went on to the next destination - 故宫博物院. it is like one of the best museums in the world! And true enough it's really amazing. like so many things!!! totally shocked at the size of it. Spent quite a while to finish walking ard the whole place and collecting the chops. haha!

Like palace like that lor. very Big and nice!

Then we wanted to go 阳明山... but due to some weird taxi driver... we kinda got cheated and ended up nv go to wherever place we wanted to go. but fine. Nvm. luckily the cab fare wasn't expensive. or rather we didn't want to pay so much cos it wasn't our fault in the first place. but whatever it is. we carried on to the next destination - 淡水!! :)

淡水老街 has quite a lot of things to shop for too. we meet up with the other 2 there. We separated up for the shopping after eating the tall tall jumbo ice-cream. hee. after that took the ferry to 渔人码头. woah... nice view esp at night.. nice bridge. haha! went up to 情人桥 and took quite a no. of photos.. some quite stupid/funny. haha!

Us and 情人橋 just before we left the place. very nice view of the bridge at night. :)

Then we decided to go back to 士林夜市 again. haha! :) But the 3 nurses bought so many things (mostly snacks for colleagues and friends) that they had to go back hotel to put things before coming out again. So da-jie and i went to eat and shop first. Hee. This time bought more things. Shoes! got nice and comfortable shoes... should have bought more colours man. haha! cos like quite easily wear off. esp. wore by me. hee. Food we tried: 蚝煎, 卤肉饭,泡泡茶. and i can't rmb already. =P And we also saw the police raid the place... so the vendors in the middle of the road just kept their things quickly and went to the side to wait. after that still went back to their respective spots. haha. funny.

Ya.. that marks the 2nd day... we went back slightly later... but not very late cos we had to catch the train early next morning. still.. had to catch a cab back to hotel cos no more mrt. not very ex thou. :)

Day 3
Catch a train to 花莲 at 7am. Wah... really tiring.. all of us were catching some sleep on the train... while ah qin had her evil thoughts to take sleeping pictures of us. dots. notti girl. Anyway... the train took 3hours to reach hualien. so it's really... very long and tiring trip. we ate the Dunkin' Donuts we bought the day before at 淡水 for breakfast. Yum. :)

When we reached there.. we were greeted by our guide Mr. Loo. Err... ok. he's Mr. (young) Loo. hahaha! Erm... i actually can't rmb his name already. hahaha. memory failing me. =x So anyway the guide is really nice.. Thanks to qin's friend for giving us the contact.. and thank goodness we made the decision to go to 花莲! it was really a very fun day. Even though we like walked a lot. and gotten a lot of sunlight too. haha!

Sea and Sky is love. :)

Yup. went to 太鲁阁... which is like a national park... consisting of many attractions... 清水断崖,砂卡砀步道,九曲洞,燕子口,白杨步道. Every single one has their own values to the trip. Like 九曲洞,we actually have to wear safety helmet to walk through the whole path... why? Cos the cave sometimes has falling rocks and well... apparently someone from China Mainland got hit on the head by the rocks. erm. ya. Very suay person. That's was only starting of this year or something like that. well.. they didn't open up their tourism to Taiwan long ago right. so can agar the timing. And so everyone has to wear the helmet for safety reason lor. And we look so funny like at a construction site. haha!

Then the deemed most fun one was 白杨步道... which leads us to 水帘洞. Damn fun. Although had to walk like quite a dist before reaching... it was all worth it. Not sure if anyone else were as crazy as us to go in twice. Once or twice also all wet already. might as well right? haha! Yea... so as good as it is... we were all drenched by the end of the day. And tired too. But shiok to get the water pounding on ur head and back like massage. hahaha. hydro-massage.. Heh.

Think this was the first time we went in.. Not SO wet yet. but wet liao lah.

Just before we get on the car to leave the place... Tired but contented. :)))

National Day 09

National Day is just over and yup. Kinda enjoyed it. :)

Cycling in the morning with some NUSCO ppl - Eric, Sanmin, Yuhui, Hweeling + bf and Zhenqiang. We really thought they wanna cycle to Sun Plaza sia... But in the end was Sun Plaza PARK lah.. dotx right. lol. And ya.. that's in tampines. lol. It took us almost 2 hours to get to the destination from Kembangan. Quite good a cycle.. but weather was not quite the best condition? cos too humid and sun shining with its utmost effort near to noon. tsk tsk. and no sun block. -.-

But still the whole thing was quite fun esp if u see the 2 guys cycle across the other ppl's path dangerously. luckily i was in front. haha. when we reached the park.. it was ard 12.45pm.. Returned the bike and walked to TM. Waited for suyi and yihui to come from their cycling. haha. wenxiang came to find us for lunch.. at KFC. oh man.. all exercise gone. lol!

After that decided to come over for a little Wii game... i went to borrow 2 more controllers from Horng. Er ya.. i just called her house and ask if i can borrow. lol! quite funny lah. =P Anyway.. took some videos and will upload when i have the time. :)

After they left, we Wii-ed for a while more before NDP starts. Yea. it was good lah really. although watching there live was better... we get to see the faces more clearly on the tv. haha!

And yup. that's for national day! Happy holidays everyone! Still got 1 more day holiday mah. :)

Ambition . Dream

Hmm.. the posting format screwed again. -.- What's wrong with everything online lately.. fb was also screwed... sian-ed.

So now my fb status is like 'Living a 今天不知明天事 live now'.. which is SO true... other than going to the gym tmr in the evening. i have no idea what else i would be doing. probably wake up late, eat, watch tv, sleep and blah blah. What a life.

Got a call today from SCO.. saying they need part time before some re-organisation i think. And that she will get the HR to call me. Apparently i dunno when that call will come. i hope it does. and i dunno when i will start. but i think quite soon. So free time is limited. And i should like enjoy as much as i could now.

Somehow.. through this period of job-searching, i thought a lot. One of the interviewers asked me what is my dream and what do i hope to achieve. and i think i had something in my mind already. 2 parts to this dream... 1. i want to be the artiste manager of a grp. 2. i want to travel ard the world. SO my dream is to lead a touring musical or theatre production or a music group. just that. how am i going to achieve that? When in the first place, there isn't any chance available in the local market?

There are a few places i feel that i must travel to and have a look myself.
1. Niagara Fall
2. Tibet
3. Grand Canyon
4. London
5. Prague
6. Broadway
7. Or actually the whole of Europe and
8. The rest of China i have yet to visit.

Yup. So i'll have to work hard from now on. And i really hope that the career path will be clearer soon.

Cousins' day out!

Finally posting is back to normal.. can upload photos liao.. hee.

One of our attempt to get the jumping pose.. Heh. From left: my er-jie, ah ping jie-jie, ah shan, jiaqi and me. Da-jie was the photographer...

One day out with the cousins... Only females... haha! Why? anyway these are my maternal side cousins.. out of all the cousins... there are only 3 males... and ya.. 7 females... we didn't ask the 2 youngest of the lot cos they are pretty young as compared to us.. and they are usually quite anti-social towards us... they are siblings: 1 male, 1 female. So that's 1 male off... Then jiaxun didn't come back for this hol... so that's another male off... so obviously the only male left would not want to join us right. haha! he's brother of yiping and yishan. So that's left with the 6 of us... and it's great that we could all come out tgt!! :)))

We had a range of activities man. First, lunch was Sushi Tei @ Paragon. I was kinda late cos of some things to get after sy prac that day. But still, lunch was good and it was Da-jie's treat. :D Had garlic rice, salmon sashimi, golden roll, chawamushi, umaki, soft-shell crab, and hmm.. can't rmb all! haha. =x But was really good lah. :)

Then went over to Cine to see movie timings. Wanted to give in to watch Ice-age 3. But no timing!! Hey, it's a weekend leh. only got 1 show? maybe cos air-ed for quite long already lah. so we stick to our original plan to watch Harry Potter- HBP. OMG. it's like one of the most meaningless HP series to watch. The book was much nicer thou might not be the nicest book. Missed so many impt details and kinda changed the story a bit as well. i dunno. not my favourite of cos. and halfway through it was really kinda boring, i slept a little. lol. can't rmb which part. And we had dessert before the movie cos there was still time. SNOW ICE!! It's damn good. at Heeren's B1. Yea. :) OH! Movie was yiping jiejie's treat. :D I forgot who paid for the desserts. haha.

After movie, dinner time liao. HAHA! Proceeded to Suntec cos planning to go for a drink after that. Dinner at Soup Restaurant. I think er-jie paid for dinner. :D Fulfilling dinner. :) Had reddish and ribs soup, the signature Samsui Ginger Chicken, Kangkong, Tofu prawn. Yeah.. only can rmb these. =x

After which, went on to Polaner for a drink. Just sat there to talk.. Really like market like that. lol. I think yiping jiejie paid for the drinks. :D Anyway dear jiaqi was penniless... haha! So anyway. we parted for home after that. Reached home like almost 12am or slightly after ba. Hee.

I think we should go out more often.. HAHA! Next time we meet should be to celebrate shan's 21st bday~ :) Hmm.. haven't think of what to buy for her yet. have to do it soon. less than 2 weeks to her bday. hee.

PS: i didn't spend a cent in this outing. thanks to the older sisters. :) A blessing of having older sisters... yiping jiejie is same age as er-jie. hee.

SYCO goes crazy. (causal)

The layout for posting a bit weird weird de.. Cannot post pictures too. Just when i feel like it.. Haha!

Time really passes very fast huh.. Only the last performance left for SYCO this year. Moreover not everyone performing. :( I just realised that SY is like the CO i've stayed longest in.. Ok. For now it's the same as pri school. 5years.. Sec sch was only 4, and jc was only 2. CC was on and off. Thou also for a long time.. But not a permanent member for long ever since left sec sch. I'm like just part time in mco and nusco.

SYCO is really different. Most of us are not of the same age. And ya.. Most of the time i'm the oldest among them and the youngest either 16 or 17. But everyone just talk and play tgt. And without fail. We know what we are going to do after every practice and performance. Like going for supper most of the time at Lau Pat Sat after the annual concert. It's so standard that we did it every year.. Only once we went to the HK Cafe which we also frequent on other occasions like Beautiful Sunday. I can safely say one of the joyful grp to be with.

Crazy stuff we did when tgt.. Includes forming our SYCO Choir. Haha. Ytd was one of the craziest time where the whole bunch of us sang national songs all the way from botanical gardens bukit timah gate to the tanglin gate! From the influence of the songs we performed ytd. Heh. But it was fun yea? :) And not to forget the past composition (not-really) of our LPS song. haha. and the singing of Zheng He. lol.

And to back track a bit.. There's like a lot of us swarm into LPS after SYF presentation last thurs.. The place became so black. Haha! But it was really fun.. Becos of the increase of ppl joining us for such activities.. We had to join 6 tables to accommodate all of us! Quite kua zhang lah.. But filled ok. Lol.

Could see everyone was damn happy abt the performance that day.. Esp. Gls. I'm happy for him and for ourselves.. Despite all the lousy stuff we presented during prac before that. It's a relief that we did it on the perf itself. And glad we did too.. Cos everyone was so stress to perform side by side to the Gwh schools. It's just so difficult to outshine anyone. Dunno if we did. But i felt it a success no matter what. :) One unforgettable night i know.

Ok.. Back to present.. First time perf at botanical gardens.. New experience i say.. Not much time for preparation and i'm not really prepared for all the songs really. But yea. I'm glad we did it.. Good to see that there are quite a good no. of audiences. Makes me want to go there picnic as well. Lol. Hmm.. Xiangle performed with us as well. Glad that he could.. But also kinda worried at the same time.. Hope he's still ok after all the songs. And hope all these doesn't worsen his case. My same words.. Nothing is more impt than health Xiangle.. U can do the rest when u recover. Must take care k? And of cos we are all here to support u... Even we can't do anything physically to help u... We support u mentally.. Dun forget u have a lot of friends and family who care. :)

[edit]

We went to Shokudo.. and this was taken before we left... our grp really grew much bigger as compared to the past. A good thing.. but also means harder to move everyone and notice everyone. haha! but still... it was really enjoyable. And we sang a birthday song for jessly like out of nowhere. haha. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSLY!! :) Some ppl missing in action. tsk tsk.. dunno where they went, nv join us. But! coincidentally we had the exactly same no. of ppl as the dinner at Hotpot Culture the other day. interesting yea.
[/edit]

So now.. We are left with Chamber Recital on 19 Sept and we are done for this year... But it means sy for this year will end every soon. Hmm.. Only playing for first and last song.. The rest are solos with a few accompaniment or sectional songs. There's like early bird discount now! $6 per tix. So ask ur friends go buy now! Hee.

Hmm.. Going to sleep le.. Update again soon.. Still having some post-concert syndrome. This is bad. Some photos uploaded at fb. Check them out. :) nites.
