Eat, Pray, Love

Haven't really been reading much. Until lately i utilised the remaining vouchers from my friends last year. Cos they are expiring by my bday this year. haha! And with the discount from Friends of SCO card at Kinokuniya, I'm able to purchase quite a no. of books from there! (Finally something useful from the FSCO card) lol.

So Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert is one book I've been wanting to read anyway. And it's really a good one. The writer full of humor and her way of writing. Interesting stuff she experiences and I really admire her for her guts in the traveling. I wish I have the ability and the chance to do that kind of traveling in future.

It's basically abt her visit to Italy, India and Indonesia (Bali) to seek for pleasure, god and balance. And it was her trying to heal herself from the mess she'd just gotten out of back in New York. Talked abt the ppl she met on the way, how they have affected her life from then on.

The 2nd section is quite on the spiritual journey of hers. I'm not a religious nor spiritual person, but the experience she illustrated was so extensive. So focused yet funny at times. Not boring at all.

While i was looking a picture of the book online, i found a website on the book! By the author herself! Click here to go there. :) And sad to find out that one of the friends she met along the way has already passed away. One funny person.

My busy life

Sometimes I do still feel that life is really quite hard on me. Chances always slip by and only come by when I already go for something that is not as desirable. Which is quite a sad thing for me.

Just that day I met up with my jc mates, and they were talking abt the bonus and whatever they are going to get this year cos they are under the govt. The benefits, and the pay and the ladder that they are able to climb, blah blah. While kim and i were really just listening. Well, I can only say the 2 of us are really out of the discussion cos 1. she's not working now, 2. we are not working under the govt, 3. our pay are so low we can't even make a good point ourselves. And i really only can say we are really serving our jobs out of passion.

Now... I can only say... I'm really very busy, but i'm not earning big bucks at all. If u ask me, for july, I have only 3 free days now. Or rather, 2 of the days, i'm only half free. -.- So it's like, only 2 days free in total. sometimes i would ask myself, what am i doing all these for? But it's kinda difficult to let go of some of the things i'm doing. First, of cos i have to do my job and do what i'm required, plus i'm paid! haha. Then for teaching, I feel that it might not be my obligation to stay there forever to teach them, but i dun want to give up so quickly. It's very little money, can't really do much to my expense cos the travel expense i need to get to the school is already like what 40% of what i get. But i don't know, I do like to teach the little children although some are really like, I dunno if I can really handle them for long. And keep changing teacher is not good for the kid(s). I want to really let them like violin and not be like me.

Then for SYCO, it's one of my biggest dilemma. I don't get paid, I have to tire myself out by rushing down to prac after work for every prac and dun get to eat dinner, then get very worn out after the prac. But my motivations are the performances that we put up tgt, and the friends that i've been with for so many years. Although quite a no. are leaving and I'm really sad to know that, I still don't know if i'm able to let it go so easily. It's really not an easy decision. And then again, if i stop syco, i might not have the motivation to continue with erhu lesson too. And erhu lesson is something i so treasure now.

Life is hard to go by, especially when i know of a friend going to work at sco, i wished i had made a different decision once. Just that now, i have to go on with life and see what is installed for me. I hope to see the light soon anyhows. Almost the end of my 2nd month here. I hope i'm doing not bad for the others. :)

Bday for Gemini babies :D

Oh! June is ending soon and i haven't really update finish June happenings! Haha. Too busy to really sit down and blog properly. Paiseh.

The next on activity was prawning with my beloveds!!! :D It was both quite boring and interesting. Boring when there's no catch at all. Interesting and excited when u got something on the hook. We are quite noob so the no. of prawns we got is not equivalent to the amount we pay. HAHA! We got 22 prawns with 3 rods @ $90 for 3h. Oh and that's for 8 ppl. lol! We can't even have at least 3 for each person. =P

And here goes the say: 'it's the process that matters'. haha! Ya lah, at first i was really just waiting and waiting for the prawn to bite my bait. Waited here and there, i think for 1h i had nothing? While we were complaining and consoling ourselves that maybe the pond dun have a lot of prawns that's why we didn't get anything. Then the uncle from the next pond just stood over to prove us wrong by fishing a few with every bait he puts in. Probably a minute for each prawn? Unbelievable. And we were really looking at him unbelievably. Haha! In the end he gave us a few of the bait he's using. Damn cool. It really works (better). Haha! Cos eventually some baits got eaten and we didn't get the prawn. lol. Noob. =P BUT. I fished 3 prawns! So i did my part. Heh. :) After that I was going ard taking photos. haha. Jan is sad cos she had no luck until much much later. Hee. So she took photos too. haha!

Since we dun have enough catch to have them for dinner, we just oven grill and eat them up. Quite nice though~ :D And then proceed to have our dinner at Old Airport Rd instead. haha. Western food, carrot cake, claypot rice, hokkien hei mee, chicken wing and what else? I can't rmb. haahha. And sugar cane and tau huay. Tau huay was good. like really good. :)

Then after that we tried to find a place to get a grp photo and..... the only place we found was the old airport rd market sign outside. LOL. And we look like some tourist partly cos i was using dslr? And we were discussing abt that while trying to find a trustable passerby to help us take. And indeed! That person asked where are we from once he took the picture for us. Lol. We all laughed out loud. Should have told him then, Various places in the east of sg. haha.

Exciting June Part 2

Then comes the annual SYCO concert. This year no outing was planned before the the concert. Which was a bit boring, and i feel this year is quite neglected by everyone. Including our umbrella. cos we weren't even given dinner. And so i didn't have dinner... cos of a lot of reason. But nvm. U still know there's fun once everyone is there. like instantly. :)

First we have this toilet party where so many were stuck in the toilet putting on make up, with rachel and zixin esp. long with their eyeliners. lol. It's quite funny lah. Until it was like time to go out to meet via to pass her the tix. Saw the cc ppl as well. mel haven't reach by the time i had to go in. Dad and mum too. tsk tsk. Anyway, 2 guys put jj's aeroplane so i didn't get to see them. hais.

Okay, to the concert. I thought it was really quite good. Given the kind of stuff we were producing on our last week's rehearsals. haha! And i admit i did play a few places wrongly. =X I think i was too focused in i dunno what. And i have to say that just talking abt the SYCO songs, this year's songs are one of the nicest we have performed so far, though there were many songs we loved as well. And as usual, the combine song for SY and the teachers is really good! I love that song since last year, the first few times i listen to its recording. Too happy to believe that we will be playing this piece when i saw it was still pending for approval from MD last year. I was secretly praying that he will approve it. Haha! And he did! Overjoyed! :D

Then was crazy photo taking session during the concert break. And after that actually cos we are free till the combine song. Haha. And dunno why some ppl are nowhere to be found. lol.

Then after concert. Finally got to see my parents and the 2 friends. My mum actually went to the autograph session, to tell mr quek that she's my mother again. HAHA! My mother that is. -.- So anyways we didn't had time to go up for the autograph cos the chats and photo-taking downstairs is taking up too much time seriously. By the time i want to go up, they were all down already. Chey! Still took a photo with jj in the end lah. Junior leh. haha!

RAH! but i think same as last year, no recordings for us!! as in no vcd or dvd given to us anymore. BOO! Because of someone we all know who. yucks. 

Then our usual routine to LPS. lol. The ny ppl came too. Had a great time lah. Them and their craps. like wth. We had so many ppl, there were so many grps. cc ppl were there with jj as well. Eat eat eat and laugh laugh laugh lah. and doing stupid stuff. Then drag drag drag to get off that place. Wanted to come home but in the end went to daryl's house with the rest. Didn't do much, just talk. Talked abt quite a lot of stuff, which are quite random sometimes. haha. But good time with the sy ppl lah.

In the end came back in the morning with junan and shenglong. Coincidentally, my er-jie just returned as well! It was like 5.30am at least? lol! And luckily i was only meeting the beloveds in the afternoon. which i was still late! lol. Okay, continue next entry. Got to sleep. i got outbreak these few days! damn irritating.

Exciting June Part 1

I realised i haven't blogged from start of the month till now! Everyday of june is like packed with all the things in my life. haha! Like seriously! How can my life be so filled with things one moment and so empty the other? lol!

First week of June is like that time we always look forward to. :) Although it's like intensive rehearsal for sy annual concert. Everyone is easily tired and could be the most stressful period for some. We nv missed out the fun we should have. :D For the Nth year, we have been going on with our colour week! It's love i tell u. So this year we had: 

red on monday

green for tuesday

blue for wednesday

orange/yellow for thursday

and black (sy shirt) for friday!! :)

Call in on air!! :D

Shall blog while memory is still fresh. Like WOW! I called in to jiafa's programme again! 2nd time! LOL! Somemore he was only covering for peifen this week. :D I rmb i called in once when he was the host for night programme. So i went to check and TADA! Click here to see the post. :) I rmb it was like the last 1 or 2 weeks before they change shift again.

And again! Ytd night i was just trying my luck... Lying on my bed, with specs off already. After a few 'Number Busy's and 'Network Busy', i suddenly saw 'Call 1'! I was so shocked! HOHOHO. So faster listen lah... he haven't pick up yet.. so i was praying that he would pick it up and YEAH! He did! lol. I super happy lah! hahah. He asked me to hang on a while cos it was still at the commercial period. I wanted to tell the rest.. but not enough time sia.. hahaha! And i was at a loss. i went to kitchen to on the radio first so i can speak louder. haha!

The call went on air and chatted for quite a while. Haha.. He asked if i'm still a student first. Haha! And if i always listen until so late. Actually before i started working, by the time i listen to the radio at night, it's always after the shifts. But also same as listen until very late right. haha. Then talked abt my work nature and workplace. Then he ask me '做得开心吗?' I said all right... 不错, then he say 也不能说不好对吗？等一下别人听到。Exactly. Haha!

Anyway i dedicated the song to asswai ppl, to let us all work towards concert this sat and it will go all well! :) Then he asked what instru i played. I wanted to say erhu but i playing gh in asswai leh. So i say gh lah. Then he dunno what is gh. lol. so funny lah.. I was trying to explain lor. 他和二胡长得差不多，声音比较高，但身高没有比较高。Haha! I feel like slapping myself. lol. So he asked abt asswai also... like how long we prepared and is it very tough. blah blah blah.

So it ended with him saying, '如果你也跟宛颖一样，这个星期六有表演，那祝你们演出成功。' Erm. Something like that. I think i was too happy i can't really rmb all. hahahahaha. U all try these few days lah. Let's own it.

PS: it took me 3 repeats of my name to get him say it right. But at least he said it right at the end. :)))

PSS: I was hoping that he will play the JJ song after the dedication but the song that was right after the dedication was 蔡淳佳's 等一个晴天, then after that was JJ's 会有那么一天. :)
