Music being the Center of my Life.

If anything is blog-worthy in my life, it must be the concerts: either those I performed in, or those I went to watch. And just so happened that they happen to me quite often to me. HAHA!

Ever since I don't remember when, there are times I just won't be able to meet anyone on saturdays because I have a concert to attend. LOL! But it's not really my fault, is it? :)

A few to name these few months. (Actually I might just list all)

1. Our People, Our Music 2014 (OPOM)

I don't know why I signed up for it, but well, it has to be memorable somehow even though I'm not part of SYCO anymore. It made me seems like I'm still part of sy, at least for a while. Haha!

It was a lot of waiting and waiting, standing and sitting around, oh wells, I asked for it right? Haha! nonetheless, we are already the lucky lot. So I shan't complain. And aren't all of us proud of breaking the 2 Guinness Records? I guess that's worth it then. :)

3. MCO Beautiful Sunday
Haha! Haha! Hehe! Haha! :)

4. SSO @ Re-Opening of VCH
Very exciting event as we all re-visited the site, with everything refurbished so nicely, to give us a modern yet classic feeling of the place. Some of the things may have changed, but it feels really good to be back to place where many concerts were held at. A pity that I have never performed there before, and I don't know if I ever will have the chance to, but I was definitely privileged to be there on this occasion. But I have to sit, sitting under the covered area on the stall seats is still not satisfactory and doesn't justify the sound from the stage properly. A pity. I still remember the days it was the performing venue for SCO, East zone camps, and other schools/community centres concert. We spent so many weekends there. Even though toilet queue has always been a problem and there's absolutely no food around as well, and that the seats were in bad condition nearing the end before the renovation, it was the memories. I still remember the concert I watched someone I liked perform on stage. I still remember the watching some talented people I admired at some concert. The memories of secondary school life. And you haven't realised, but I haven't said a thing about the concert. Other than Ng Pei-Sian, I don't really know what else to say about the concert. HAHA! :x Oh ya, I already talked about the sound. Hopefully I will get to perform there one day.

5. The Sound of Music Musical @ MBS Theatres
One of my favourite films since young. Probably because my sister always watch it, all the lovely songs, and me listening to the soundtrack countless times. I was a little confused with the plot and songs selection/sequence, only to find out that was closer to the original broadway than the film. Oops. Looks like we were all brainwashed by the film. Nevertheless, most of the songs remained the same and it was a joy to be there.

AIR Singapore
Haha!

Esplanade
HAHA!

8. Ruan Chamber Concert @ Esplanade Recital Studio (by SCO)
Only went to watch because of Minhui. Seems like many things have changed in our lives, but not the music. It's always been a pleasure to hear some of the musicians play: Minhui is one of them :) The music, though simple, is very captivating. Just like how she played Yu Hou Ting Yuan. Could only say, I went there just to watch her. <3

9. Kalakan @ The Voices by Esplanade
Not really knowing what we were in for, I went because Ekjun and Yvonne recommended them. Saw a short clip of theirs when dymc went to Sarawak for Rainforest Music Festival. It turned out that they were really good. Even though they are from this small country called Basque, I have no idea where that is (somewhere in or near Spain), and can't understand their language. But, music really doesn't depend on language. With some simple explanation on the numbers, and the power of their vocals, it's not difficult to feel the music. Couldn't resist but to stand up, clap along and sing along. It was not a long concert, but definitely an enjoyable one. :)

10. MCO 10th Anni Concert @ Esplanade
My last performance for the year. Never felt I put in so much effort into a concert before, I wanted to make it the best one, but then again, it's always about everyone, and not just 1 person in the orchestra. Or even, majority. You just need 1 person to ruin it. (just a saying, not pointing at anyone). No matter how many practices I went to, (actually all the practices since Oct) and a number of extra practices on weekday night, it doesn't make a difference if the section hasn't even come together once until the rehearsal. Yup, I understand that everyone may have their own commitments in life, I used to have mine as well. And I burnt all my Saturdays to go to practice at somewhere so far even though it's my only free day all week. What I'm saying is, well if you have so many commitments, you ought to choose the priority, and give up some of them some times. It doesn't hurt, really. More so if in the end you tired yourself out and also drag the others with you. There's a possibility of finding more players at an earlier stage rather than every week having hopes that this person will come, and the person just doesn't turn up at all. It's an issue of responsibility. An orchestra isn't an orchestra if the players don't play together most of the time. And that's probably why we need to add practices and tired everyone out and had so many 'surprises' at the end of the day.

And kids nowadays, have to be spoon-fed with answers. They are supposed to be smart, so it's not that they don't know, more or they don't want to try. We the seniors were practicing hard even though we already know our stuff and trying to perfect it, but they just sat there and did nothing. They didn't even attempt to try on their own when the scores were given months ago. Don't understand why we are still teaching them at the last week before the concert. I was practicing right beside the girl just to motivate her to practice also, but she just sat there and did nothing. Hello! I don't even need to practice anymore. -.-

In the end, can't say I didn't make any mistakes, in fact, I made quite a few, though not major, but I feel bad enough. I would have played much better if it wasn't for my sore back. :/ Need to remind myself to get muscle patch the next time I perform because sitting straight-backed for a whole day is a no-joke.

But this concert has made us bond better, think of solutions to savage and not immerse in the so-called good image from people who doesn't play the music at all. Happy that at least we get to play some traditional music, although a mix will bring more audience. Well, I've done my job. I used to be quite hack care about such things because I'm just someone who plays occasionally in the orchestra, I don't know where the sense of responsibility suddenly come from. Perhaps I just wanted them to be more efficient. Super waste time some of the time. Glad that it's over, but then again, kinda miss the music playing time. Till the next time! Hope it's not too soon, so that I have more free saturdays.

With the year coming to an end, just 1 more concert to go! i.e. Jay Chou's Opus II, which was supposed to be on 8 Nov, but it's going to be tomorrow! :D Excited! But not crazy over it. Well, first time, just to experience it. :)

Ok, maybe that's not the last. The last will be on 31st Dec in Taipei! ;)

And due to budget constraints to save up for the much awaited trip, I resisted and had to give up a few other interesting stuff this year, like Mamma Mia musical. Oh well, I'm sure I will get to catch it in future, maybe in London? Who knows.

Till then! Good bye for the year! :D

Just when nothing went right. Nothing.

其一是我不想這麼快回家,其二是我需要更多安靜的時刻 (as if I haven't had enough of the silence in my life), 再者是這安靜的時刻讓我可以想一想一直掛在心上的事。

June is meant for celebrations :D

Yay! Like the title suggested, June is for celebrations! haha! Probably started on 1st June. HAHA. Okay, have to admit that it didn't last for the whole month lah. I couldn't afford also. :/

First was from the best ex-colleague turn friends and vocal classmates I could ever get. Although it was super unfortunate that our vocal coach had to spill the beans the previous lesson. I just pretended I didn't hear anything. Lol! But the awkward silence moment and I guessed the girls really wanted to kill him already. HAHAHA! It's so super funny and yet I have to act blur and contain my laughter. And so it was teoheng session after the class with the 2 'drop-outs' joining us. And then tbh, I saw them choosing the birthday song. Like... I'm not blind lah. Maybe yx was blind cos I think he really didn't notice. Haha! But still, it was a sweet thought. :) Then was dinner with them. It may not be the best meal, but having mates like them was one of the most blessed thing that happened to me for the past year. :) And we had cakes! And cards! :) And I got a present as well! I think that's my only physical present this year. Not that I'm a fussy person about birthdays, but they really took note of what I like, because we were shopping for stuff one day and I merely mentioned I like that ear piece. They went back to buy it another day. So much love. <3

And then, I met up with one of the most important group of friends in my JC life. They made my JC life much happier and fun-filled. The CO peeps. Grateful to have met them. Though tbh, I already knew Jiewan, Jonathan and Deshun way before entering NY. haha! But well, CO would have been different without them around. And every single meet-up with them is always filled with laughter throughout. No other group of friends are like them. And tbh, other than myself, the other 2 pairs were friends on their own, so I'm really very glad that they have never left me behind, and Emily is always really sweet and made no one felt left out or absent from our meet ups. We don't meet a lot, and I do miss them a lot. :)

And then... although both these occasions weren't exactly meant as birthday celebrations, I have the right to put them under the same category. Right? And so, had lunch with the once ex-colleagues (haha, aiya long story) because Agnes wanted to treat us 3 girls (no, not jz and mw) for helping her with stuffs. Nice lunch, nice chatting with them after I left for 2 months. And then, because of free tickets (hahaha), I get to meet Liyana. Miss talking to this girl. Again, we don't meet up very often, but meeting her always made me happier, filled with more confidence, and regain memories when we were in school. I do miss some of my LASALLE classmates, don't I? :)

And there was Meiting's wedding. Really a very joyous occasion, and lotsa catching up with the friends from mco. How long haven't all of us performed together?! And that's probably why I decided to go on and perform for the 10th anni concert. HAHA! (Not really because I wanted to), and tbh, that's one of the only few avenues for me to play with orchestra now. (sad to say).

And then the luckiest thing that happened in months, (yup, other than that, everything was rather crap), I won tickets to Springwave Concert 春浪音樂節 in Singapore on 7 June. Sister was as happy as I was. So ya, we went together. So exciting as there were some Tainan food stalls as well! *Drools* (Though we were supposed to be there for the music. haha) So anyways, we thought we were there mainly to watch Jam Hsiao and Amei lah. Hehe. When we got there, it was 郭書瑤 singing. So we were eating the yummy food and listening from far away, apparently, it wasn't as bad as we expected. haha! Could tell that she really put in a lot of effort to train and most of them are not her own songs. Then there was Bii Have to say we enjoyed ourselves very much. Even though we are not at the best seats, it was very 'high'! So excited to see Jam and Amei again!!! <3 :D I hope next time will be JJ and Sodagreen though. HAHA!

Next was our 2nd breakthrough performance, and family gathering plus seeing the little nephew. Breakthrough was all right, a little better than I expected but I knew I could do better than that. Looking forward to the next one. Nephew was sleeping most of the time and not feeling well, but managed to catch up with the cuzzie a bit, before they left. And they cut the cake without waiting for me! (Even though it was also my birthday cake) LOL! Anyway I had to leave after that for HCCO concert, to support Bernard for his concerto. And partially because the conductor was Wei Yanming, so I didn't mind going. HAHA! =x

And then there was my birthday. Actually I never called for any celebrations on my birthday. If people wants to share the occasion with me, I'd be happy. But it's just my birthday, I wouldn't really want to trouble any one to give their time up for me, not even my family. And so, I had a solo-activity-afternoon, after having sumptuous lunch with daddy (which I just treat it as my birthday lunch even if it's not). I was contemplating between movie and cycling, no good movie timings, so I went cycling instead, which I was thankful that I did. Cycling alone wasn't boring anyway, I had plans. I brought with me my polaroid and a roll of films just for my own birthday project. Sighting scenes I would love to record down. And just to do one of my favourite activity - watching planes take off.  And thinking of how I could take pictures to depict 1206. I was trying to look for the numbers, later I decided that I should try to be creative. Thus I got something that says 'No. 1', 2 pieces of clothing for the birthday (Hehe, excuses I know), 0 from the top of my drink, and '6' from my block number 132, which represents very much on my life - 1 bro-in-law, 3 sisters and 2 parents, adding up to 6, making up what my family is, which is very important to my life. :)

Ok, and then it was really celebration. HAHA! I need to thank the 2 for taking leave from work to do this with me. Yay to fellow June babies. :D We went to Water Adventure Cove, spent some good time playing with water and waiting in the queues. haha! Had some good laughs. And to the korean bbq dinner with the Beloveds for both Qin and my birthday. The group of friends I will never abandon and I know will never abandon me :) <3 I don't have to say much, because hanging out together for 14 years with most of them is nothing fake. <3

And then, although it was really part of the #1206, but I do consider it as one. i.e. joining Yes933 for their night cycling event. Have to say the waiting was really longgggg, the route took us to some place I've never been before and to our surprise the sights were very beautiful; looking at Singapore from a different angle. :) It was then some supper, some activities before heading back to ecp to end the trip. Tiring but nice. :)

Of course, I needa thank all the friends whom managed to remember and made an effort to send me a msg. More than happy to have them than anything else. And so with this, I'm ending this super late post. HAHAHA!

And I'm lazy to look for the photos. So... if you want to see them, find them in my instagram or fb. :D

Breaks are meant for Enjoyment like Food and Concerts. Loads.

Finally felt guilty that I haven't been updating the blog even though I haven't been working. Not that anyone is still reading it, but penning down has always been the most reliable source of memory for me. And thus, it means that there are a lot of things I might have forgotten through these months. haha! (Ok, maybe I could refer to my instagram for some memories retrieval)

Life is still as happening as ever, before the funds run dry and the mother at home starts nagging. =x Sometimes I'm not at choice for this right? Oh wells, hopefully things will turn out to be better.

Anyhows, a few updates on the happening stuff in my life lately then.

First farewell

Had a surprise farewell party by the colleagues. We thought it was going to be a small dinner with the boss at her place. It turned out that some other colleagues were already there waiting for us. Well I sort of suspected a few of them because of some illogical things they were saying. So anyway I forgot about it while on our way there and of course I don't want to spoil anything if it's real. Haha!

But really touched to see them there! One intern couldn't join us though. Had fun talking, eating, singing and laughing. There's even a decor and cake and they made a video which I watched until I cried because it was just toooo funny. All the fun that we had, even though it was just a few months with some of them.

Totally grateful for colleagues turn friends like them. Will never forget them for sure. And I hope my colleagues in future could be at least a bit fun-loving like them. As the little gifts from them. Totally awed by the effort that was put in. Love.

Say Goodbye

After all, it's not so difficult. Because I'm not that important to them anyway. Received a few goodbye hugs from the students, good enough I thought. Haha!

So, the CO colleague received plenty of presents, long and lovely messages during and after the event. And I have to tell her, that CO students are the best. HAHA! And it was actually quite fun to manage her event this time round. Although I enjoyed my own too. :)

All in all, I'm thankful for all these times I'm able to go through. I was half-hearted to whether I should continue, but too many things happened that made me very clear that I don't want to continue anymore, and it' not because of the workload but the people who made the workload worst.

Made it clear and got the load off. Not that I really wished this to happen, it has to happen. Like I always say, everything that comes, I will take it with stride. Now I will take it as a choice and I hope I've made the right choice. :)

Coming to an end in 1 week.

Frankly speaking, it's been some good time with the kids.

And today was one of the best days with them. I think I really will be sad to see them graduate. Okay, I'd be happy to see them finish the whole programme, enjoy themselves and have a very good graduation concert. But well, it's sad that that's the end.

One student told me the time is too short, why couldn't it be longer and why can't they join again. Ya, true. But think about it, what if the 2nd time isn't as enjoyable as the first? What if the expectation was so high that in the end you felt that you didn't enjoy as much as the 1st? After that he agreed. Haha!

It's just like when I went to COcamp in sec school. Although I was disappointed that I didn't mange to join the 2nd year in the end (I was totally looking forward to it and was sad we are not allowed to go because it was SARS, O levels chinese got postponed and school doesn't allow us to join), I was glad that I was kept to the experience from the 1st time I went with all the close friends.

Today was kinda important, as it's the last proper rehearsal. And I helped them took a group photo. Very happy that all of them were enthusiastic the moment I asked them to. Very happy to be able to know a number of them and very happy to be able to see them through the whole programme.

Touched to hear them sweet talk me even though sometimes I trouble the students from the hosting school. And sometimes I'm really strict and show my black face to them. HAHA! At least that's what I think. But I really like it that there's really fun-loving students, and even though some of them really ALWAYS piss me off, they are all quite cute actually.

I've been feeling guilty about the ticket thing. But I'm glad most of them understands and unlike some of the students last year (sad to say) who kept on pestering me in a bad way. I mean, I'm already trying to do everything within my means to ensure everyone at least get something, I don't expect them to be grateful, but at least not resentful right. I know the last batch some of them had quite good relationship with the previous exec, but well, there are some students worth being there for.

And this year, I'm lucky to get these bunch of lovely kids. Both primary and secondary. The primary school kids are too cute already. Although they are also very very very mischievous and blur, they are still quite cute.

Bought things for them, hope it will come in time and they will like it. :)

All in all, I will miss them. HAHA!

And next month, will be facing yet another farewell, Awwww.

Thinking about my life

I think this year my biggest hope is to contribute more to my parents and bring them to more eating places that they might not be able to go on their own. Well, before I get dried not working (Hopefully not) :/

It's something I like, but because of the surrounding factors, there's no point in staying for long. And in fact, that's what everyone else thinks as well. And I really like the environment and the people here. I must say, the best colleagues I've met by far. I will really feel sad when I leave. And the rapport that I've built with the students in the past year is also something I felt wasted when I have to go. Well, the fact that we all know that we should go. It's a pity that what we are doing now is so trivial to them. (not to the office/group but to the whole system), and it's something they cannot control at the moment also.

If you ask me what's my next step, honestly, I see it as 'very blake' and I really wouldn't give you a definite answer. To be truthful, I've been so many downs in life (I wouldn't even say ups and downs), I'm kind of afraid that it will come to me again. But I'm kind of left with no choice. And I will have to step out again. Again, I wished to continue in the area that I'm most interested in and is capable of, however, reality tells me that I should go into something else that might help me better in my future. I totally have no idea what I should do.

Of course, more importantly I will have to complete my tasks on hand before I end my term with them. Will certainly miss everything here. And of course, I want to make these last 2 projects a success that I don't have to leave with regrets.

Lately there are too many happenings that alerted me that I really have to look around me more and care about the people around me more. It must have been really tough for them. Not knowing what happened to that friend's dad, I don't want to speculate about it, but I know that deep down he must be feeling awful and that the burden on him has become heavier. The other, brother of my friend, a husband and father of a young child, took his own life, not sure why, but made me think. There's a lot of reason to do so. And I've always thought, even if life is really tough on me, I wouldn't have had the courage to do anything similar. As much as I'm afraid of life, I'm afraid of death. For someone to take his own life away, it's not a easy thing to do. But as selfish as it may seem to leave the family in heartbroken state and in pain, the decease deserve the pity that something must have drove him to the wits end for him to make that decision. I'm not sure if that's the best way to solve anything, but I'm conscious of knowing that anyone having thoughts like that are at the border and really just need some help and encouragement from people around. And we just got to be more sensitive of our close ones. It cannot be something that just happen overnight without any signs. I got to know about it in the afternoon, and honestly, I'm still in shock.

And till lately, I'm more afraid to think about my parents' old age than anything else. Honestly, they are still in the pink of health, but I'm really afraid of that day coming. So I have to be as attentive to them as I can be onwards.

My deepest condolences to these 2 friends. I hope their family members will be fine and will be over this soon. It's difficult but I really hope they do and they stay healthy and strong.

Happiness of 2013

2013 has come to an end.

To be honest, looking back at 2013, it has been rather kind to me, more than I expected and definitely better than the previous year(s). I'm glad and grateful for everything that has happened to me in the year, no matter it's good or bad. And I have to say, it's definitely good over bad. Let me count my blessings.

1. I'm lucky enough to get short getaway trips 5 times this year. HAHA! Malacca with the favourite people in March, Bday trip to Taiwan with Yushi in June, SYCO trip to Taiwan in July, Bangkok Trip with the favourite people in Sep, and Hong Kong Trip with the Family in Dec. How was that even possible! Lucky that I was able to make all these decisions without worrying about something else. Anyone who knew me probably knows that traveling is my biggest enjoyment. I'm happy.

2. I managed to see all my favourite artists this year and I'm really really grateful for that, esp. JJ Lin 林俊傑, Sodagreen 蘇打綠 and CNBLUE! There's just so many happy moments with these people!
a. Amei on 26 Jan
b. CNBLUE on 13 Apr (Short but fulfilling <3)
c. Sodagreen on 15 Jun in Taipei 小巨蛋! <3
d. S.H.E on 26 Oct
e. JJ 林俊傑 on 9 Nov (the love <3)

3. Watched some awesome concerts and musicals as well. Hairspray, The Phantom of the Opera, Broadway Beng, Addams Family, etc.

4. See some of my closest people gone into the new phase of their lives. My dearest same-age-cousin was the first, I'm really proud and happy to be part of the happy event. She is then pregnant now with a baby boy. Probably an april baby, can't wait!! :D Then there was wedding of a cousin in Oct, a not-so-old-but-rank-higher-uncle wedding in Nov and another cousin in Dec, all from the Lims. And of course, one of my dearest friend, also got married in Dec. Happy to be a bigger part of the big event for my dear friend, though halfway through I was totally out with churning/cramp stomach with runs. But I managed to stay through the whole thing and shared the happiness. :)

5. Didn't change job for the whole year! Haha! I'm thankful and grateful for really good colleagues. Helpful, cheerful, and encouraging environment is definitely what I'm looking for. But I know it won't last long, in fact, it will end soon. Though I'm really enjoying what I do now (esp. with the performing groups), some things cannot be forced and there's an end to everything. Well, we will see. Hopefully the next one will really be something I like too.

6. Just before the year ended, I got to meet up with a group of friends I ever felt dear to. All that we have gone through together. Even though we seldom meet, in fact, probably once a year or longer, everything felt so familiar, just like how we always eat and chat after CO prac in JC. Will never forget them. :) And well, he is getting married! :)

7. It's my last year in SYCO. A good year I say, everything still feels so fresh, very happy that I went through all the events happening to SYCO this year - all the 3 concerts, overseas trip, chalet. Many new experiences: memorable and good ones. It makes me treasure the experiences more and love SYCO more. I hope our paths will cross again. My Mondays and Wednesdays will be so empty from now onwards. Sighs.

So yup, that's all! Let's just forget about anything sad. :) And hope for a better, if not, same 2014! :D

JJ Timeline Concert 《時。線》

I'm in the hype to update asap. Indeed, a very exciting night. I have to say, I'm happy to convince my JJ concert partners to pay more and come with me to the front to see him so clearly! :DDD I was at the 6th row from the front! In the segment where the most important guests were sitting so he was near us most of the time! Heh!

Our tickets~!

S.H.E Together Forever

I thought of going to the concert for the longest time. (okay, actually the longest was Amei. haha!) But I did really want to go this time. But the tickets were long sold out, and when they release that last few tickets, either the seats are not those I liked or they are just too expensive (Cat 1). I even held the tickets in my Sistic cart for a few times, contemplating. I gave up in the end. My principle behind is, if I don't even spend that kind of money on my favourite artistes, I shouldn't do it to the ones I'm not so hard core about. Which means to say, I have never spent that amount on JJ before lah. I thought 'it's just too bad because their tickets are really too expensive for me'. I'm saving up for more things since Christmas is most 'chor' period on money. And I have decided.

Next thing I know, the very next day, my sis whatsapp me and I was totally delighted. In fact, I replied immediately and was smiling to myself. HAHA! Okay, a bit drama but that was totally what I did at that moment I saw the text. I went OMG! YES!

You cannot imagine my excitement. I was sad because I missed my bus by seconds. But after this it doesn't matter anymore! And it's FREE!!!! :D

And then I had a BKK trip in Sept

I say I'm kind of lucky. To have the luxury of all these. Again, it's kind of an impulse decision to go along with the friends. But it was a happy one. :) Went to Bangkok with some of the Beloveds. First time 6 of us plus 3 went overseas together.

It's very hard to have so many close friends going out at the same time. And we are all glad of each other's company (I'm sure). Haha! It's a bit impromptu, and I had so many choices I chose this over the rest. But excitedly we had all the flight and accommodation settled. :)

It's a crazy trip of eating and shopping.

We reached there early afternoon, so soon after we dropped our bags at the hotel, we went out for lunch at Platinum mall, it was an impromptu decision for the fuji restaurant lunch and shopping indoors because it was raining after we finished our lunch. So we decided to shop where we were.

To be honest, BKK is like HK, With an extra option of massage. It's like the best place to go get new clothes blah blah blah.

Went to do Pedi and mani too, but I don't think I will do it again next time, because they really took toooooo long. HAHA! I only did cutting for both hands and feet and drawing for toes only and it took me 3 hours. I was so going to die sitting there (almost).

Massage was awesome as ever! Every night without fail :) Shiokness. Even met a friend/ex-colleague there. We don't even meet in SG because we stay in different parts of SG. haha!

Weather was a bit crazy. It's either too hot and it's raining. LOL! We had to stay indoors on one of the days because it rained when we were about to go out. The other times we had some difficulty getting back to the hotel dry, even though we had ponchos. And luckily we had the ponchos.

Despite that, surprisingly we had enough chances of roadside stalls food. Glad that we always have a street of food right below the hotel. Though they don't sell till late like 1, 2am, but I have to say we had a lot of good food here and there. Some of which I didn't even know or tried the last time round. :)

Spent most of my money, buying things only for myself. HAHA! Okay, a few items for other people, but seriously, not much. I don't know how I really am able to buy so many things, just for myself. Oh wells....

It was really a good trip with the closed ones and I really look forward to going somewhere else with them again! :D

Broadway Beng - Back to the Basics.

HAHA! Okay, that would be quite a bias comment.

We all know most of the part would be funny. And indeed it was really funny, we all had hard laughs throughout the show. And the songs! They are the one and onlys. Where do you hear people sing the songs in chinese and hokkien, in english and hokkien mixed? The Broadway Beng does it. :) And the translation are always so funny, you can't help laughing. He made jokes out of the simplest thing you can find: his mother, his siblings, the audience, the stage, the supporting cast, even his father who has passed away.

I have to say that I was touched when he sang 《阿嬤的話》(He changed the lyrics to 阿爸), as a dedication to his dad. The only part in the whole show that wasn't at all funny. But he changed the mood so fast to joke that he is talking towards the ceiling not because his father is sitting at Circle 2. -.- And if the audience at Circle 2 sees his father, must say 'hello' to him. -.-'''

I love the part he speaks to the audience and the Justice Bao part. They are too hilarious. Tea parties, Ronald McDonalds, Grease, all so funny. I have a great time and thinking back now, some of the scenes still made me smile. :)

Little Broadway Beng is so cute. And at his age, he's really good in speaking the language. Acting was really good too. Plus, he has a cute face. haha! But throughout I was thinking, is that really the thing we want to teach this child? Is he too young for it? Or he has the 'bestest' idea what he's doing? I don't know, and I'm curious!

Overall, have to give this show thumbssss up! :D I love Sebastian Tan and will continue to support him! I hope he makes a Broadway Beng show every year! PLEASSSSSSEEEEE! :D

Yup, the anticipated trip since the friends started become closer in SYCO few years ago. It's a pity that those people have already left the orchestra for various reason. But still, I was still looking forward to it, because there's won't be anymore chance. HAHA!

It's not an easy trip to come by for this one. And I appreciate every effort. I would love to ask if this trip had happened last year or the year before, would it have been very different from what I have experienced? Answer is most probably! Why? The people, maybe the repertoire, the end result.

I have to admit that every trip has something memorable, each one has its own value.

I have gone to Taiwan (Taipei) twice in the past 2 month, i.e. one month once in June and July, for different purposes: Play and then SYCO.

Work's treating me.

Been too long, I hope this is not going to be an overdose. Ytd my colleague and I realised that time has really passed so fast that we already almost halfway into this year and 2 months ever since the new contract started. To think about it, I felt I was a bit too timid to ask for more. Nonetheless, I know that's not exactly what I cared for although it would have helped a bit more now that I need more money for trips and concerts. haha!

Btw, new term has started for the talent programme and I'm kind of skeptical about it, having new instructors, new students I haven't had a chance to talk to all of them (I hope I do in time to come). Starting anything new is never easy (well, taking over wasn't easy too). But new challenges is something we just have to go through in life. I never like too much changes, but I've grown to accept that they will just keep coming after all these years of the unexpected(s). I guess life has taught me through the hard way.

I don't know how long I will stay here. In fact, I like the place and the people if not for some factors. It's a pity but we all know that we will not be able to stay forever, not even long. This is quite sad, but I guess the colleagues are really people I will continue to contact. We are more like friends than just colleagues which I was quite thankful for. Plus the team is really good to the point that sometimes I feel so clueless and they already have everything done nicely. My team colleagues are so nice they are always trying to take care of us and help us in any way they can, like just random chat, sharing food, offering to drive us out/back after work. Really greatful to meet such nice people. Just today (1 June), I had a great chat with them over working at the band orientation programme. Next session onwards, I'm gonna be alone there again. But well, accept and take it with stride (my moto now).

For the other team, I am thankful that the students, or rather, members, are really kind of nice. They are experienced, and sometimes too outspoken, but I'm glad they could talk to me, and not treat me like some transparent. And in fact, I was quite touched that a few of them actually thanked me for being there for the rehearsals and going through all these. Honestly, music has always been my passion, doing an orchestra work has always been my dream (just that I'm a bit clueless here sometimes because of the inconsistency), and here I really still have a lot to work on. But I've also told my other colleague doing the youth sinfonia, that I know it's going to be difficult, but I will take it with stride and do whatever I can. Actually I said this only to encourage her because she was feeling uncomfortable with it at first. And probably she's going through what I felt last time - i.e. not liking changes. But sometimes we just got to change, and I'm getting her to accept that, I think she is and I'm happy for her.

It's hard work lately, so much so I haven't had chance to get myself a weekday off day even though I worked for a few saturdays. I'm so gonna have it next week. Accumulated too many hours, I think I have enough for my TW trip, without the need to take any AL. HAHA!

I think I should sleep soon. Been falling sick too much lately. Started with the sore throat and fever, then the swollen blistered up bites, and then some blocked nose. Okay, I haven't slept so late ON PURPOSE for a long time. I said that because I was forced to - due to the blocked nose, and the itch on the bites most of the time. Other than the nights I had the drowsy medicine from seeing the doctor, the rest of the nights were pretty bad. In the sense I totally have no mood to put on any make-up in the morning because my thought was I want to get to sleep faster when I return home at night. Some days I really looked terrible my colleagues asked me what happened to me. But still, everyday I went through the same torture of having new mosquito bites, scratching them a bit here and there, and having some with awful blisters. It was the blisters that forced me to the doctor because the first few turn really bad I couldn't even walk properly. My arms and legs (mostly the left) are covered with red swollen patches from bites, time to time. It's kind of gross and I have done all I can to prevent bites but still, in the end I had like 4 on my face. =.= I really need all these to stop like soon or even, right now! It's damn unfair, I'm the only one who gets all these bites wherever I was. Some are really painful and/or itchy, I hope they are not leaving scars. TSK! And I already finished the cream given by the doctor to kill the bateria.

Yup. So that's it. I have to get back to good health condition and skin condition before my dearest cuzzie's big day. I HOPE!

CNBLUE, JJ and Sodagreen = the Favourites!

我會像支持林俊傑一樣想支持他們的音樂,i.e. spend money to buy their album.

Cutie Jungshin! Loving him more and more now. He's so cute! But still... Yonghwa is my love! haha!

I could really see his face! He's so charming when he sings and actually all the things he do! Even the little funny dance he does. And when he smiles. Totally melts. <3

In our fan-mode while queuing for the merchandise! Might as well since they are there along the queue. Haha! So in love! Hehe.

Last Day! :(

I will still support Y.E.S93.3fm! Jiayou! :D

End of Batch 2012

Very happy that my kids completed the programme and put up a good show for the concert.

My responsibility with them is almost done, except for the post concert reception, which was sad because the school teacher wasn't very supportive. However, I'm happy to see my students so happy and excited for the day, and some very nervous ones. But they are so cute! HAHA! Omg I will miss the kids I think, the primary school ones are really too cute already, even though they are very naughty. Secondary school ones are very nice students though, very funny some of them, and although a bit irritating sometimes, I still love them the same. Haha!

Actually I felt the day was almost gone in a flash. I don't even really feel the day gone. I was only worried for some things that didn't go the way I wished it did. But luckily it was resolved in the end. And I was glad that I actually had time for dinner, at least! Hehe!

It may not be the best concert you can get, but it's still the hardwork of the students, the conductors and the tutors. But something to reflect for next year: not to let them anyhow change repertoire. haha! Heart attack to listen to some of them.

For myself, a lot to learn from this concert. Happy that I run my first concert ever. Like in control of almost everything, although not exactly. But I felt it and I kind of enjoyed it. :)

And now it's my colleagues' turns to get busy and nervous. hehe! I wish them all the best though, I will they will be good anyway. :)

Looking back to 2012

If I had to recall some things in 2012, the first would be that I didn't even finish my summary of 2011 post! HAHA! it's still there as a draft. But I tell myself, I have to finish this one on 2012.

2012 has been a rather eventful year, with some ups and downs in my life. Well, probably more downs but I have to say that it was better than 2011 at least and I hope it (my life) will only get better.

I was really excited to know they are having a concert in Singapore. Quickly gathered my concert khakis. Actually the usual ones didn't really want to go, so had to extend to the main group. Eventually I went with Siyih, Qin and her brother.

One of my most crazy and high concert of the year. Truly enjoyed. :))) And you won't believe I'm actually thinking of going to HK to watch their concert in April 2013. But I think I will be busy during that time. How sad then.

BTW, this post is VERY outdated I know I started the post long ago but seriously I don't know why I don't have the motivation to finish typing it. So there it is, done 3 months after the concert. The concert was on 19 October 2012. HAHA! :D

First Post of 2013

Esplanade is 10!

I was quite surprised when I first heard about the whole event. "You mean Esplanade has been there for 10 years already?" - My first thoughts about the 10th Anniversary event. The method of participation in the weekend's 'Dedicated to You' programme changed from time to time. In the end I was quite involved in the whole thing!

At first my role was just an audience for SCO's programme and staff for DYMC's programme. And then I left DYMC, so that left me with just being the audience for the former and I was still contemplating for National Broadway Company (NBC) because I didn't know what it will be like.

Zhuhai & Macau (Typhoon) Trip

(My long owed post: I started long ago but just didn't set down to complete it) Hope this helps!

Kind of a short getaway for the sisters from 23 Jul to 27 Jul. We went on our own because the parents already went at the start of the year without us, and the friends all couldn't make it to the dates in the end. And the funny thing is, in the end the friends are also going, all at different timings. Haha!

Another reason was to kind of clear some of our leave. So we didn't cover any weekend. HAHA!

Let's start then!

Definitely one of the most awesome concerts I watched this year! Totally love his whole performance.

离上个Music Man已经有4年了!He's probably one of the singers whom I will keep going to his concert! (Other than JJ) And so, the last concert blogpost is HERE.

A weekend of fun!

A very eventful week. Enjoyed myself and used my time to the fullest.

Last Saturday was SYCO's July Concert. Happy to hear that the tickets were sold out at the very last week,  and even open up the gallery seats. Although we felt we weren't very very prepared for the whole concert before the actual day, everyone was really motivated and did well during the concert itself. Esp. when it was a coincidence that it was Mr Quek's bday the next day so everyone was extra motivated? But actually that should be the way. I wished it was more competitive so that everyone is more hardworking. Whatever it is, really glad that the concert ended well. I was totally drained after the whole day and my back and waist was aching like hell. Had to force myself to sit straight throughout the concert but it was super tiring. Almost died. HAHA!

Sunday was time for 《老九》. Frankly speaking, I wasn't very sure if I should watch it at first, but since sister was interested to go, I decided to give it a try. Actually, it was better than I expected! Just that the first half was kind of draggy, as it always happen in musicals, but the songs were good. And the actors were better than I expected too, esp. the lead Sugi. He did very well, together with some other veterans in Theatres, I like the '大马' acted by 刘俊葳, he was really good. The special moment was when 老九 narrated that his teacher passed away after 3 months, a kid behind us said 'huh!'. We all giggled at that point.

And was dinner with the JC peeps. Also a birthday celebration for my buddy - von. Sometimes I feel that if not for her and yuhui, i will bid goodbye to them. Haha. Nah, just joking, I'm happy to have such friends who have gone through jc life with me and have become so close since then. And even happier to receive good news from one of us. Got to prepare for it next year. But sometimes I feel guilty that they treat this grp of friends the most important but I didn't. But I really appreciate all those we have come through these years and I think we will still be friends for a long time. :) The reason why I said the above it plainly because I think they although they may feel I'm important in the group, but I'm not that important too, because I don't think they ever cared what I'm doing and how I'm doing. All we do when we meet up is just to talk about them, and I don't know, how on earth we can always talk so long and loud without addressing to everyone. I mean unlike my other groups of friends who will remember what I said and ask me how I'm doing or what. So, I don't feel as attached. I mean, they didn't even remember that my birthday is during their bali trip when they plan, and didn't even remember I can't make it on certain days even though I've said it so many times, and didn't even remember I mentioned that I going overseas on whatsapp. But the good new was, our dear han is getting married next year! :)

Then was on a trip to Zhuhai and Macau after that weekend! :) Will blog about it in another post.

Caught Hebe on her 2nd tour concert to Singapore 《田馥甄 To My Love 演唱会》, held at RWS Compass Ballroom. My first time attending a concert there. But don't really like the place though, ceilings too low. And space too wide, so sitting at the sides really cannot see much. :(

First outfit - Photo from xinmsn.com

I really treat the concert as a birthday celebration though nothing else special happened, but I was happy enough. Really had a great time, though there were times she was so far away that the view was totally blocked. Well, I say, a good saturday night spent! :)

Singapore Arts Festival 2012 (SAF)

This year, I'm purely an audience at the festival. I hoped I was asked to be a festival ambassador, but thankfully I wasn't selected, if not I will be feeling even worse to have to reject them eventually due to my horrible work load and schedule outside work too.

Anyway I chose 4 ticketed shows out of the many, which is considered the most shows I have watched for SAF.

1st show: The Flight of the Jade Bird. It's the opening act of the festival. I was having high hopes on the production although I have the slightest idea what is going to happen. I was more excited to see the musicians by the way, as we have known a few of them. But I feel it hasn't really reached what I perceived it to be when it started and when it ended. (Sad to say).

2nd show: The Languages of Their Own. I say it's an eye-opener. I've never watched a show ONLY based on words and voice expression. There was very little direct physical contact between the 4 actors (or should I say performers), the only one I was and remember was when Daniel came out and gave Ming a hug. To speak the truth, I was quite taken back at that moment, because there wasn't any close contact in the scene(s) before that. But I would say the character build, atmosphere build was really good. And at the end when they were cross speaking their thoughts, so separately but so together at the same time. It's amazing timing. I didn't know it's originally an English show long time ago until I read the reviews. I was quite surprised that it doesn't feel weird listening to it in Chinese, even though usually 'gay' is associated with the English and more open-minded society, like the place the play was set. But the idea of 4 guys with different background, having the same identity and understanding each other, makes people think a lot eh?

The conclusion of the play is: I seen some friends attending the show and then I'm quite certain of some things?

3rd show: End of the Road. It's kind of a musical but with no story line, sang and performed by a UK group Young@Heart. All the performers are at least 60 years old and the oldest is 90 years old! 90years old and still could sing and dance on stage! It's probably one of the most precious and memorable one. I was so touched and inspired by the whole show. And very impressed too I must say. The effect is kind of the same when Lu Chun Ling came, just that I didn't watch the actual. But, I really have to say I'm very impressed with everyone's voice and energy.

And then I thought, what will I be doing at their age? Not to say in the 90s, I can't imagine what I will be like in my 50s and 60s already. Will I even have the energy to still do what I like and perform like them? Will I even continue to love my passion like I do now? I would definitely wish to. The power they tried to project is so unbelievable. Very very impressed. I really love to be like that when I'm old.

4th show: I didn't watch it in the end. Because I double-booked myself for that day. There was another concert going on elsewhere and I thought it would be more worth to watch a world class percussionist who seldom comes to Singapore to perform. Sorry OMM and Rite(s) of Spring! :/

The Avengers Movie

My first superhero movie ever. Never ever watched any of those movies before, be it Ironman, Captain America, Hulk, Batman, X-men, Spiderman or whatever man. Except for half of Thor (or more, or less) on the plane (I fell asleep, haha), it was nice, but I couldn't be bothered to re-watch it again. So I kind of went to the show without knowing any of their abilities. Haha! Luckily I'm quite receptive in the sense of drama, so still can understand.

Anyhows, if you ask me what kind of superpower I wish I'd possess, I will say 'Reading Minds'. Not sure if I've mentioned before, but that's what I've always wanted to have. But well, superpower doesn't exist in the world, right? I have never believed in them, either, and probably that's why I don't really watch them.

For a first-timer like me, I consider it a remarkable movie though, and although I never had any prior knowledge of the heroes, I can relate to the context of the one yea. Okay, if I have a chance to see the other movies I may watch them to fill in on the details all right?

Draw Something?

It's been a long time since the last update? Been busy anyway plus there's no exciting things happening in life! How sad.

Lately, everyone is in the craze of playing DrawSomething. I was quite resistant of it at first, because my drawing sucks all time. But in the end I succumbed to temptations to download the app. And well, it goes that I'm drawing something! And I think i'm quite okay leh. At least i'm drawing instead of writing.

And at least I Feel I'm slightly better than some of my friends. HAHA!

The Lucky One with Zac Efron :)

My first time watching a movie premiere, and it's a Zac Efron movie! I was so excited! Too bad the cast wasn't here to promote for the movie, if not I would have seen Zac Efron in person. HAHA!

Anyway, I was kind of lucky I guess, to see the contest on fb, and joined it and then got picked randomly to win the tickets. :) Dragged a friend along to watch the show.

I have always enjoyed every single Zac Efron movie I watched, so do I have to further elaborate on the movie? I don't think you will believe me fully anyway, so I shall save my breath. But I must say I was taken away by him. HAHA! Go watch the show for yourself lah. :)

SYCO makes my life complete 2012

SYCO has gone into another year. I think I say this every year, but it's really kind of different every year, isn't it? And especially when more and more friends have left us for greener pastures. Nah, just joking, they left to other matters they have to cope in life. And sometimes it's not like they really wanna leave, and I understand, one day I will leave too. Sooner or later.

The funny thing is, I'm treating every year like my final, and still the same this year.

But somehow, the feeling is not so strong anymore, even though I know that eventually when I leave, I will still feel sad. I feel so emotionally attached to the group, we are not just people who play in the same orchestra, we are a group of close friends, a family. And I know I will miss everyone there.

Actually I kept on have to convince myself that it's time to leave, and I really do feel so, but I feel so attached to sy that I'm afraid of the emptiness I will get when I really do leave. Everyone is saying that next year is the 10th anni of sy and it should be quite cool to be there for a 10th anni. Same sentiments, but will I really be able to commit. And to be truthful, sometimes I see it as a hindrance to whatever I want to do in life. Seeing people with so much freedom without commitments like this, I'm envious. However, the fear that things will not be as I see it worries me. Oh wells, I blame myself for not being young enough. HAHA!

I think I got sick of myself talking about the same things every year after sy concert, so I'll save that for now. But I'm quite glad for this year's concert, erm, somehow, haha! I admit that I haven't been practising much (which is also one of the reason I feel that I should go already). There are so many more worthy of staying inside than me, though my attendance is probably better. But I was quite surprise that at the end of the day, we got to where we should be on the stage, and could see Mr. Quek is quite satisfied, by the expression and gestures he made. The sy miracle we always say. Everything comes alive on the stage itself. :)

And so, we still made it. And in fact, I was kind of touched during 边巴 that I nearly teared, thinking of some friends I miss and will miss in future (kind of silly also), but eventually I resisted, knowing that I really shouldn't tear on stage. But the music was just so good, really love the song.

Then, ironically, this is the first year I totally don't feel like performing for the finale song, because I didn't have time to practise and I would have a bit more free time if I wasn't involved. Plus, I've been in for ALL the years I was in sy, so I don't feel there's any regrets, unless if you want to consider the completeness because I did. Actually this part was quite funny, we were rehearsing with the SCO musicians for the first time and Zhangls thought I'm sitting with him since I already did for the past 3 years. Then I got to break the news that I'm not. LOL! He was a bit shocked. I had to go: '老师,今年我不是坐你旁边! 哈哈!' and he went: '啊?'. Ok, my worth proven. hahaha! Just kidding. :)

iLight, iSee, iShoot. :)

Went to iLight Marina Bay 2012 on the last weekend of its exhibition.

Glad that I went, and it gave me some feeling of Vivid Sydney we went last year. And they are still doing it this year. If you are going to Sydney during this period please go to the festival. :) http://www.vividsydney.com/.

The only downside of the visit that day, was that, Earth Hour was also on that day, thus the site was all dark from 8.30-9.30pm. So we also stood in the dark for quite some time before everything got lit up again.

It's a nice walk through the installations though. Luckily the night wasn't too hot or cold. But the walk is so long we got rather tired at the end, and we still didn't finish all the installations before the lights are off at 11.30pm. (Supposed to be 11pm, think they extended due to Earth Hour).

Quite a few interesting installations along the way. The site is so far away long the whole coast of Sg river, from the floating platform to merlion park. (from the longer way). And so it's the first time I actually walk through the whole MBS (outside), to a park I've never been before, and go through the river bank before reach Fullerton Bayfront Hotel, where there were a few interestingly made white park benches, some which can't even be sat on, then back to Merlion Park. By right the merlion itself has one of the installations, but we were too late lah. So we walked back to city hall to take train home after that.

I say, a very worthy trip. Although I wished more friends joined me.

There goes Rabbit, Here comes Dragon!

I think I never failed to post about CNY every year, so this year will not be spared as well. This year was a bit tough because first 2 days were Monday and Tuesday. So the weekend before it was kind of wasted because it wasn't new year yet.

But this is quite a special year for us as we had relatives coming over on 21st, 22nd and 23rd. HAHA! 21st was lunch after paying respect to our ancestors at the temple. Ever since we don't have a common house, we have been roving around a few houses after the session at the temple. And so, we lost our usual reunion dinner place as well. So from last year, reunion dinner is at my place. But it's kind of not everyone is here anymore. Still, we had a good time with the families. And we had kind of a reunion dinner on 21st already, just my family.

And this year, the only different part is that Erjie is no-longer just a 'Lim'. She's also a 'Wong' now. So she wouldn't be with us all the time. I miss her! And so, Dajie and I made our way to 三舅's house and then we went to 大舅母's house together. And my cousin asked if they will see my Erjie because this is the first year they are going to receive angbao from her. And commented that it's kind of different without her around. Eeyer, want the angbao then say lor. HAHA!

So back to my place, sit and talk and eat. Forgot that we should use the time to take photos. haha! And didn't have the time and energy for Wii also. In the end Erjie came with Bro-in-law to 三叔公's house. Yay! And joined us for the rest of the day.

Should have tested my luck that day. But I'm too scared of losing. Totally don't like the anxiety of gambling. So I didn't play at all. But I still gained a Magnum from it! hahaha!

At night was as usual the Lim Family visiting our place. Truly speaking I was totally tired at 10+pm already. Still, tahan-ed till all the guests left.

2nd day is again as usual, go to the temple for my grandma's death anni, then travel around, really nothing much, except for all the little conversation I've made? I think I did. haha!

3rd day! Boss gave holiday. Hohoho. So no need to wake up early, had another day to slack and regain energy. Very important you know, because CNY is so tiring. Da-jie also on leave, so it was good food for lunch. Hee. :)

And so back to work, and then.... visiting on the weekends again!

The first sat, to 团拜 with NUSCO peeps. Long time since I met them. Steamboat at Kevin house, and then to Andrew's place. Meet-ups with this group are usually associated with games (cards or console). This year we had a new game - Dixit. Quite fun! Got to be imaginative, creative and a little scheming to win. Haha! But quite a interesting concept and nice drawings on all the cards. So impressed. And the usual 三国杀! We have quite a few experts there lah!

Sunday was with family again, supposed to be with SYCO ppl too, but planning was so bad and since they don't really care if I was there, then be it lor. So I was with family to 3rd Uncle's place for lunch, which is really good! :) Then to 8th Uncle's house and to 7th Uncle's house. By then, it was nearly evening! In the end, we decided to watch 'We Not Naughty' that night, and I went to Laoshi's house with Via before the movie. It was a short one, but at least we did. haha!

Last but not least the last weekend. Sat was a totally busy day at work for our season launch. And dinner at night with the Royals. Nice dinner at Hua Yew Yuan although the place was a bit noisy. It was full the whole night. How amazing.

Sunday was a day out with Beloveds. Accomplished quite a lot I feel. Had a good steamboat for dinner at Dj's place too! Thank all the mummys for cooking/preparing the nice desserts for us! We had desserts from morning till night (before the steamboat). LOL! :)

I hope every new year will be as good, or, even better! :D

Amazing!

 Photo from xinmsn

2012, Let's go!

Why do we have to set resolutions every year?

I'm still sticking to the 三十岁的目标 I've set somewhere late 2010, because I only completed one of them which is to get my driving license. The rest, some I'm trying to keep, and the rest, not fulfilled yet. And if I were to add anymore to them, it may take me my whole life.

So to keep it simpler, I just want 2012 to be better than 2011. And somehow I need this to happen to me. That day I posted on fb that 2011 was so bad that things can screw up even when I was overseas, eg. missing planes in aus, caught in typhoon while taking cable car in hk, and getting bites so badly in hk also. Thus, this year has to be better, please.

But well, I will just try to remember the goods. :)

I'm not having a far vision for this year as well, or rather, I didn't dare to have a far vision for this year, after what had happened the last, in my least expected circumstance. But it's ok, I'm ready for 2012! Let's go! :)

At least I've had a great start with one of the best fireworks experience and a whole day and night of fun. :D

Sister's Big Day! :)

Finally my sister is officially married! After all the engagement, ROM and finally the custom ceremonies over the past 2 years.

It's quite fun but tiring having a family member getting married. Why didn't my eldest sister get married leh? And I've met so many people I haven't met for a long long time. Okay, let's start from the morning.

Hong Kong - Revised.

Feel like talking about the Hong Kong trip and the camp.

Been to HK so many times and I haven't felt sick and tired of the place. Every time there is something new, every time there is something for me to look forward to and enjoy. And I think I will continue to go to HK. I even ever secretly hoped that I will be able to work there, even though my Cantonese is really cui. Haha!

Anyway, we took a midnight flight to HK because it's cheaper (we are trying to go all budget). But we still took a Cathay Pacific so as not to sacrifice our instruments for the strict rules of budget airlines, moreover, Jetstar wasn't any cheaper.

A-Inn Hostel
We got ourselves very cheap hostel, 4 in a room with private bathroom, and allowed check-in at any time of the day. Perfect for us since we are reaching that early and it's quite impossible for normal hotel to allow to check in at 8am, no? It's the first time I actually took a public bus out of the airport - something new for me. Haha. In the end we still got to the hostel so early that nobody was there yet. Had to call the number at the door to get someone to come. Nevermind about that, at least we weren't left there unattended for hours.

I realise I have quite good memory on what's here and there. I could recall the cafes, restaurants I've been to, pretty much. Heh.

Dim Sumsssss
Dim sum is essential. So we went to 好彩海鲜酒家, 莲香楼 on first day and second day morning respectively. Both of them looked the same from the last time I went. 好彩 back in 2007, and the other in 2009. LOL! 莲香楼 is really good for experiencing traditional local dim sum practice. We practically shared the table with 2 other group of people. Although they were quite nice, we didn't manage to get any desired food at first try. They guys were shocked at the speed the food was taken off the trolleys that just came out from the kitchen. But in the end we still managed to eat quite a number of different dim sum, after they got the hang of getting the food from the trolleys. Haha!

Other Foodsss
Okay, it's kind of unfair to list the rest just under 'others', because they are very nice food and very important in the trip too! haha!

Wanton Mee
I'm not exactly a fan of Wanton Mee, but knowing it's quite famous in HK, we went to try the one Von went before. Not bad actually. The portion is kind of big and there was a lot of people by the time we ordered.

Mido Cafe
I swore to go to the cafe again ever since I saw it being featured on 刑警. hahaha! But seriously, the food aren't really cheap at all the 茶餐厅s. But the milk tea is really good. :) and the 菠萝油! Love.

Porridge
Generally, I loved the 海皇粥店 there. We went to a shopping mall too late to meet the closing time of a eating place so we just stopped at a random porridge shop on our way back to our hotel, and it's actually just opposite the place. Randomly, the food is nice everywhere around there!

Fast Food(s)
Actually we had quite Mac quite a few times, KFC once. And there's more variety in KFC than Sg, and more drinks selection in Mac. They have the HK milk tea in mac. haha! Quite cool. Nuggets are nice too.

Bubble Tea(s)
It's a blessing to drink the 贡茶 there. It's the large cup at a price cheaper than Sg's smaller cup. And it's nicer! And we have one just around our hotel! :) Oh and we have a 歇脚亭 right outside our door. So we tried too. Not bad lah. Haha! Basically, usually the milk teas there are nice. :)

Dessert(s)
Can't remember the rest. Mango desserts are love. :)

Ok, I got to confess now that I can't remember anymore details. =x Blame it on the procrastination.

Other than shopping, we only went to visit The Victoria Peak, Madam Tussauds Wax Museum and Ocean Park. The last time was really the wrong company to go to Ocean Park. Had so much more fun this time. Esp. at the Marine World, we were there for such a long time looking at all the fishes and such. Still didn't see the panda this time round. But played more rides, took the cable car up to the theme park area, and the express train down at the end. And we were so 'lucky' that the typhoon came halfway through our cable car ride. How coincidental is that?! So of course we had no choice and had to tahan till the end of the ride and still got stuck at the station. Luckily we had poncho and we ran out with it on when the rain got lighter. And luckily the weather became better afterwards, if not we wouldn't get to play those rides and wouldn't be able to watch the animal show as well.

Ya. There's just so much I could remember about the shopping part. =P

Batam Stayover - Done! :)

Had a getaway to Batam last weekend with some beloveds. (Note: I didn't use 'trip' because it's not long enough to be considered a 'trip' for me. Haha!)

Been long since I last went to Batam. And I've never been there on my own without any family member before. And never ever done free and easy on my own with friends before also. Everything I go there, my cousins will be driving us the moment we reached till we leave. Ok, for a tour like that, it's the same lah. We got coach to bring us around (to places I've never been to I think) and to and fro the pier.

It was quite ok, one of us couldn't make it last minute, but it was good that we can cancel out the name easily. Of course the package money is paid, but at least we saved the fuel charge and all that. And it was fun because of the company! :)

Apparently we went to this seafood restaurant for lunch and everything is so familiar, like the one we've always gone to in the past. The settings and environment are all the same, but I couldn't be sure if that was the one. Next time I go again must ask them. Lunch was ok if we weren't in such a rush. And I'm still harping over the fact that I only had 1 pathetic piece of calamari out of the whole big plate because some auntie whom we shared a table with scooped all the remaining pieces onto her plate without even asking or noticing other ppl. Totally sian-ed after that. The aunties are seriously in their own world and totally in the spirits of Singaporean aunties.

Seriously, how coincidentally one of the auntie approach yih to ask a stupid question on mer's tattoo, and then secretly cut the queue to clear customs. And then happened to be on the same coach as us for the whole holiday, and share the same table for lunch. Gawds. Luckily that was the ONLY meal we had to eat together. Thankful for that.

But at the end of the day, we saw something which we couldn't understand. Seriously don't know what the aunties are trying to play with. Disappearance? My friends only do that when we were in sec school. And at this kind of time. Not very funny. Ok, so the auntie who approached us actually told her 2 friends to wait at the departure area while she went on to eat and shop. She might be kind of wrong in this but I reckoned the 2 friends didn't want to walk because at the shopping mall the previous day I saw the 2 aunties resting at the stage area (with chairs) for quite some time. So the auntie came back nearing the boarding time to look for her friends and couldn't find them. So she asked if we've seen her friends, well, of course we didn't lah. So she was quite anxious and worried - her stuff are with them I think, and obviously if you can't find your friends you panic lah, moreover in a foreign land right. So the auntie couldn't decide if the friends have already gone in, so she queued to clear the customs (she cut the queue btw), while she was doing that, we saw the 2 friends actually inside a waiting area and didn't want to let her know, keep asking us to keep mouthed about it. Hello, we are not interested in your game. And please, how old already still play this kind?! Eventually, they entered the departure area at different time and cleared the customs with some interval in between each other, a bit weird I say. And they still sat together in the ferry. Weird kind of friendship I say, or if you even consider that friendship.

The worst part of the trip was on the return trip, trying to get out of the building to go on the ferry. We were all squeezing actually. Initially, we queued up because everyone was queuing. But towards the boarding time, everyone just crowd themselves around the gate, and so the queue dissolved once they announced for us to board the ferry. It was crazy and aunties are really good in all these, they encouraged younger people in front of them to squeeze and not give way. Typical. At least in the end we still managed to sit together. Credits to daijing who was able to squeeze out the fastest with the help of an aunties pushing the 2 girls behind daijing. haha!

Best part of the trip is at least we get to eat some good food, get some cheap clothes and buy cheap tidbits! :D Though didn't buy a lot, but we had our fair share of fun, esp. when we were playing saboteur in our room at night. It was kind of crazy and fun.

And I had a big bed to myself!! Woohooooo! :D

I'm actually looking forward to the next time I go back there to find my cousins again. But probably it wouldn't be so soon, and I wouldn't be able to get on such trips again easily, because I'm trying to get more students to earn more money. It's hard to give up some things (fun and rest) for such, but it's the age to do so and I'm going to heed the advice from my teacher to make it a break before I don't have the energy to do so. :) And so, I want to save up more for future better trips. :)))

The next trip?

Last week one of my friends asked me, if I could only go to one place, where is the first I want to go. And you know what, I can't even answer this question. In the end I still had an option answer. i.e. Shorter period (1week) - Japan, Longer period (2weeks) - US. So it depends on how much time I can afford. Oh, and probably how much money I can afford too. Plus, if I can afford, I would really want to go to London. One of my dreams to watch some musicals there! Omg. I can't wait for myself to go already.

The thing is, there are so many places I'd want to go!

So now I've got to start saving. =.=

They say if I stop going to all the short trips to HK, I will have the money to go to these places. But but but... I <3 HK! And I seriously don't mind going again. Esp. for the camp or just shopping. Okay, maybe not the camp anymore because I believe that those memories are the best to keep. :) But shopping, yes!

You see, I haven't been to HK that often. The last time was 2 years ago. HAHA! And I haven't only gone to HK mah. And I visited other places before. So it isn't fair to say that.

Ok. Got to plan for next year soon. So that I can save up well. :)))

End of 7th Year!

10 Sep Chamber Series concert marks the end of SYCO 2011. (Ok, there's still the reception). I hope I won't get emo then.

I remember 09 I wanted to stop because of the possible clash in school lessons and practice days. But somehow the schedule allowed me to go for practices, only to fill all my weekday evenings. Definitely one of my hardest year but I pulled through.

To be truthful, I can't really say which year I enjoyed the most. Every year there's something the same, something different. Every year there's a different feel. But I can safely say I became more and more attached to the group every year. And that's the exact reason pulling me back from the most cruel decision, and the thought of 'I  should have done it earlier'. But I'd say I have never regretted anything for SYCO for the past 7 years.

And now, it's time to make a decision again. To stay or to leave. I very much want to stay, then again, I had to consider some other things happening in my life, or I think I should be doing. Esp. when I know that some things are too difficult to achieve in the orchestra. But if I leave, it means I'll be left with no orchestras at all! And that is sad.

I don't know exactly, 2 voices are shouting out very loudly to me. 1 saying, 'Stay! Your passion, your friends are all there!', and the other saying, 'No, you should spend more time building your own career and stop wasting time because you are not young anymore!' Both are like damn true.

Like I always say, it really takes a lot of courage to give up something. Esp. when I don't even know if it's worth giving up yet since I haven't got any solid plan that will be happening for sure if I do. But if I do not give myself more time first, how do I execute any plan? Ahh!! Still a dilemma after all. I need more time.

Anyhows. I <3 SYCO max. Thank you people, again, for another wonderful year. :)

Don't ask.

Ending my 3rd week.

Think about it, I've done a lot but haven't really done a lot too. Maybe there's just too much. And sometimes I just feel a little depressing looking at the current situation. But that is so not me, so I decided to take it in stride. Do what I can and take what is there for me.

Everyone kept asking me the same 2 questions of the past and current, and I already feel very sick answering them all the time. I wouldn't say what they ask, quite sensitive issues. And to speak the truth, I feel a bit embarrassed answering them. I hope they will ask me no more. :)

Perhaps, it was never a good decision from the start of this whole life. (not referring to this current job)

I'm enjoying what I'm doing to be honest, if only the returns are slightly better. And I'm not asking much anyway, so I need to do something more in my life. Just got to work harder i guess.

Bah............

Sometimes life is just full of irony.

As I was reading through some of the entries for the past year, I realised how much life has changed for me, how much things aren't real for me, how things just go off course so suddenly, how different it is now than what I thought they would be like in the posts.

I didn't have a job for the past 3 months but my expenses are the highest during this period. 2 Overseas trips plus driving lessons and PT is enough and plus all the other misc expenses like minimal shopping and such. I already very control. But well, I want to be strong and not admit to my family what I'm facing. And well, I owed my sister quite a bit of money to begin with. =x You wouldn't believe the amount. haha.

Then to make things worse, students left one by one. And it had to happen when I'm in need of them. I'm kind of disheartened to not teach anymore. But how leh? I think I'll give myself and the music school another month.

And then, more and more things coming up. I really need to settle this soon!

Journey to Driving

Dragged for almost a year. Wasted a PDL because I was too busy when I first applied for it, and totally wasted it without using it for even once. Finally started the lessons when I lost my job. Yup. To be truthful, it's a lost to me. But anyhows life went on, and so I might as well make use of the time. About $1300 - every single cent out of my own pocket even without an income for the past 3 months.

I was very nervous and anxious because I do not want to drag it longer, and I do not want to spend more money on it. I have to say I'm being lucky today. The tester was nice. And the tester might be rushing for time. But still made a few mistakes here and there. The worst was on the road. Didn't filter across ALL the lanes fast enough. And caused a car behind to brake. =x Wasn't really hoping much. But we returned to the school right after that. So no more chance for mistakes and that's why I passed? Haha! Luckily he didn't mark that as 'caused near accident'?

Other than that, the rest of the points came from the circuit. Can't believe some of the mistakes I made. Like on the slope! Tsk. I was kind of confident for that. But I don't know why I lifted up my foot from the brake pedal before releasing the clutch to biting point. I think my mind was in a blank. And the E-brake too. I totally forgot and reacted too slow plus wrongly. I can't even remember now which pedal did I step on first. =.=

Anyway I'm glad I passed, although not the best. But I did! :D Tyvm now I'm a P-plate driver. :)

HK Camp 完zor :(

Sometimes I do not know if that was a really good decision to go to the camp. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have so much feelings about it and wouldn't have this real feeling of missing it again. But if I hadn't, I wouldn't have met so many nice people, wouldn't have so many new friends added to my life.
