Sydney/Melbourne 11-21 June: Part 5

Now we are going for some great views in bad weather sometimes. Never gotten that kind of wet in cold weather before. Luckily none of us fell sick during the trip. HAHA

Day 5: Melbourne (Touch down)

Flight
Quite an early flight. Nonetheless, everything was good until we got to our room at F1 Formula Melbourne. You can never imagine what you can find in your room for such a hotel. Moreover, on your bed! It was 'amazing'. Oh actually not everything was good. I found out that my shoe sole has cracked and split by the time we got to the airport that morning and I still got to wear it anyhows. And then 2 of us got picked to check our bags at the airport. I wouldn't say that person was polite. But whatever. I think they just want to pick on asian girls and/or younger girls. Anyhows, didn't care much about the flight, I fell asleep before the plane even started moving. HAHA!

It was the terminal that was a bit shocking. (Oh, we took Tiger Airways and I just heard from Via that domestic flights for Tiger in Aus are suspended due to safety measures) Luckily we got there and back in a piece. It was a pretty rundown place where there isn't any proper berth for the plane. We just got down and then walk along what seemed like those temporary terminals and out to the only luggage belt for the whole terminal. More disastrous stuff when we were returning to Sydney, I'll talk about that later.

Hotel
Yup as mentioned above we stayed at F1 Formula Melbourne. It's quite near the city and most of the places we wanted to go. It seems like everywhere is of walking distance. We didn't even take any public transport in Melbourne?! Haha! But probably I wouldn't recommend the place as of yet.

We stayed in the same hotel but different room for 1 night each (before and after the Great Ocean Road and Philip Island trip). Both times we encounter something wrong with the room.

The first one: We only got to know that upper bunks are not laid and their reason was because it was very difficult to. Question mark? Ok never mind, ling was okay with doing it herself. But to her horror there was a piece of left over Mac muffin at the edge of the bed, together with the ingredients in between. But we thought to ourselves, it's okay, once it's settled, nothing can be worst. Haha! Everything else was okay, it's a budget hotel anyhows. OR rather, a motel.

The Day
We spent the whole afternoon after lunch shopping. Mainly for shoes for Via and I. And fortunately, both of us got new shoes by the end of the day. :) Don't think we gotten clothes. Walked a lot though. Like almost the whole 'neighbourhood'. Haha!

Can't really remember what we did in between. I remember we sat down to have some bubble tea and that we had dinner at a Korean restaurant. Then watched musical and then went back to sleep? OMG. I think we were kind of tired that day I really can't remember. Oops.

Food
a. Nando's
Second time eating Nando's. Both times not in Sg. So can't compare. But I think it's nicer than the M'sia one? But this one is more like a fast food restaurant rather than a restaurant restaurant. So we had to order at the counter get our own cutlery and all. Just that they will still serve the food to our table. And the food is nice, really! I saw food from other tables, they look nice too. The menu is also quite different from the Asian ones I guess. Oh and it's EVERYWHERE. We saw quite a few while walking around shopping. Amazed.

b. Easyway (Bubble tea)
Managed to get the bench outside the bubble tea shop. It's not bad. Better than the ChaTime we had. Don't know was it because we ordered the wrong drink. haha. Anyhows, the Green Apple Green Tea we had was really good - refreshing. We sat down and discuss where we should head to and which way to take.

c. Seoul
To me, it was a great meal because I simply love to eat Korean Bbq. HAHA! Cannot live without pork. The kimchi soup and ginseng chicken soup was good too. But it wasn't the original one Horng wanted to bring us to. But still, I think it's good! Ordered a serving of pork and a serving of chicken for the bbq. The waitress helped us bbq it, but kind of forgot about it halfway through, some of the meat was a bit burnt, but was ok lah. Overall was good. Ok, maybe I was a bit bias. Heh.

Love Never Dies @ Regent Theatre
The theatre was about 5-10min walk from our hotel. Very nice place, It looks very old royal styled just outside the theatre seats with all the ceiling carvings and the balcony especially.

Somehow, don't know what's the reason, all of us were feeling quite tired during the musical. HAHA! It's either the music and plot is less attention catching, or we are just plain tired. Once in a while, I doze off for a second or two. Didn't miss any story part but ya, not that focused too.

I still prefer The Phantom of the Opera. Songs wise, phantom has a greater well-melodied pieces as compared to this sequel. Nonetheless, a good musical with very good set and actors/actresses. Just that I don't understand why the handsome and charismatic Raoul had to become some loser here. Maybe he had taken some limelight away from the Phantom in The Phantom, so he had to return it now. Still, could be better!

Photos
Since it was a shopping day, only photos at Nando's. Didn't bring my big crumpler out to the musical so no photos for that too.
